On an annual basis, the United States Congress proclaims April 30th as El Dia de los Niños to spotlight the importance of young people in their communities. Over 100 cities around the country are registered as official El Dia de los Niños sites, holding celebrations such as parades, book festivals, hands-on activities and other entertainment. This is one of six national programs spearheaded by the National Latino Children's Institute (NLCI). NLCI's mission is to focus attention on the contributions and challenges of young Latinos by advocating for their success and well being through partnerships and programs.
